It is physically located and directly attached next to the to die of the GPU. AMD developed HBM memory so that it would be so fast that it could never be the bottleneck. Memory is often a bottleneck in GPU performance. HBM memory is so ahead of everything else on the market that the whole market that didn't have it conspired to be silent about how great it really was. So they just don't talk about it.ĪMD was driving new technology with this card. It isn't, but only because manufacturers are embarrassed by how short they fall in comparison. The memory bandwidth of the R9 Fury cards should be the standard that all memory bandwidth is compared.
